PostPosted: Sun Dec 11, 2011 2:23 pm    Post subject: EEA1 EEA2 Fee Reply with quote

Dear all,

Thank you so much for your information. My husband and I are preparing to apply for the EEA1 (and maybe EEA2).

Where leaning towards applying in person, and on this forum I've read the fee will be 300 pounds for this. Has this fee been implemented yet? (I can't find any information on this on the website.)

Another question...What exactly is the difference between the EEA1 residence certificate and the EE2 residence card? (In terms of duration, etc.)

I saw the EEA2 is good for 5 years...but can find nothing on the EEA1.

Additionally....for the EEA family permit we submitted stacks of relationship proof: phone/ skype communication, photos, affidavits, etc.

It this - to the same extent- advisable to submit stack of relationship proof for the EEA1/2?

Many thanks for your answers! Smile

Best wishes,

AMiss

I think its only fair! I have had to pay £1000s in visa fees (in person!) for my husband to stay here with me and i'm british...dont see why someone who lives here who isnt shouldnt have to pay for their spouse to settle with them!!

No it is not (fair). You are residing in your country of origin and the UK govt is well within it's rights to impose immigration related fees for your non-EU spouse to join you. If you both were to move to another EU country you would pay next to nothing to obtain a residence card for your spouse; also if after living&working in another EU country you returned to the UK with your spouse, you would pay nothing for a RC as well. This is the same principle for union citizens living in the UK - it is a reciprocal agreement.

Do you know when this service will be available? I am in the middle of preparing my application and it would be good if I can have an answer in a day as opposed to almost six months.

Thanks

Hi guys, please feel free to contribute to this topic. In-case you haven't heard or seen this- ukba is to charge 300£ for eea applications.

UKBA- 'There is no fee for applications made by post or in person at the moment under European law. We will be introducing a fee of £300 for applications made in person at our public enquiry office in the future, but there will no fee for applications made by post. We will update the website when the fee for applying in person is introduced'.

What do you think guys?

Does this need to be a sticky anymore given that the idea appears to have been binned now?

The UK can't charge because there is no UK national ID card.

I don't understand why people are so negative. All they do is, they are offering you a service that many immigration agents offer. Thats all nothing else. You can walk in they check if everything is all right, if you have all the required documents or if you will need something else. Then they will submit your application for you. This is £300. An immigration agent would charge you for £400-450. That is all. Its your decision. You can submit it for free anyway. it is gonna be just a service if you want to make sure you have your form filled in properly and you have all the supporting documents that they required.

Because the whole "freemium" business idea is suspect. It creates an incentive to deteriorate the quality of the free product, so that more people charge the premium product. It happened with Spotify, Amazon shipping, and many other services. I am sure the Home Office would also suddenly become even more difficult to deal with, and if you complain, they would point out the premium service...

Now that does not mean I am against a same day service, but I am very sceptical that they could charge for it without ruining the system completely.

They never promised same day service anyway. You still will have to wait same time like when you submit it by post. Many people use Agents to make sure they have got everything that is required and they filled the form in correctly. Thats what the walk in service offer. Nothing else. You will not have PR on the same day:)

Applications made in person at our public enquiry office. Thats all. Then your application goes in the queue.

If they offered same day PR for £300 i wouldn't mind to pay that money at all.
