Post by smatt » Thu Dec 15, 2011 11:02 pm

Hi Everyone,

Claiming benefits such as Working tax credit, Child tax benefit, Child benefit and Housing benefit (after getting ILR) will effect Naturalisation? Can I bring my parents to visit uk for about 3 months as visitors?

Claiming benefits what way it effect or it doesn't have any effect (after ILR).

Eagerly awaiting for your replies....

Please help me.

Thanks,
smatt

As you have ILR you are entitled to benefits and this will not affect your route to naturalisation

As already said, now you have ILR, you can claim any benefits that your circumstances dictate you are entitled to.

What benefits have you in mind? Child Benefit? Tax Credits? Anything else?

Income support for my wife as she is not working
Are you working? If so no claim for Income Support is possible. However a claim for Tax Credits is possible, and the lower the family income the higher the amount of Tax Credits.
if enrolled my baby in baby care nursary
If your wife is not working, why is there the need for a baby care nursery?

Or are you wondering what if your wife starts working? In any case, the calculation of Working Tax Credit can take into account the cost of child care, but it will never cover the whole cost of that.

Housing benefit

Post by smatt » Sun Dec 18, 2011 7:34 pm

Hi John,

Thank you very much for your reply. Regarding Housing benefit, should I have to inform to my landlord that I am applying to claim Housing Benefit or no need. I am residing at rear extended rooms of the landlord property so not paying council tax for this rooms, landlords says it all come under same property and he pays the council tax.

Thanks,
smatt

There is no requirement to tell your landlord. Any HB will be paid direct to you, and you will just pay your landlord in the ordinary way.

However it is possible that the Council might contact the landlord to check something out, but if you have a proper tenancy agreement and supply that to the Council, they might not contact him.

I know that with my local council, they ask on the application form whether you consent to them contacting your landlord about your application.
