10yrs or 5yrs for ILR

Post by biswaruponline » Sun Jan 08, 2012 12:17 pm

Dear Moderators,

Right now I am on initial Tier1 (G) 2 years visa and I have extension in Nov'2012. After extension I will be granted( :!: ) another 3 years of leave to remain. In 2015 (Nov) I will be completing 5 years as Tier 1(G) and also will be completing 10 years (Aug'2015) legally in UK.

My Tier 1(G) is based on Employment and Self Employment both.

My question is in 2015 should I apply for 10 years settlement or 5 years of settlement for ILR?
Because 5 years settlement need tax documents/papers (not sure for 10 years), so that I can get prepared for tax documents from now.

Thanks.
Biswa

you are asking about an application you are intending to make in 3 years time, it is difficult for anyone to advise you on this as no one knows how the law still stand then,

that said, whether you apply for ILR as a Tier 1 (G) migrant, or under the 10 years rule, you need evidene that you have lived/worked in the UK during that period, and you should as a matter of course keep tax records anyway, so you might as well keep the records and paperwork now to be prepared for either application.
