2012 changes and ILR

Post by gastr » Thu Oct 06, 2011 6:23 pm

I've heard about the recent consultation period for proposed changes to visas next year. I know it's not set in stone yet, but if anyone can answer this based on what they've heard about these proposed changes I'd really appreciate it.

I have been on a Tier 2 sponsorship visa since November 2008 (I was on Working Holiday for a year before that). Two years with my current employer and one year with a previous employer.

As I understand the current rules, I will be eligible for ILR in November 2013 (five years from 2008). If the proposed rule changes about preventing people from being eligible for ILR under certain conditions:
A) does this apply only to new applicants or also to current ones?
B) does this apply to my situation or am I exempt from these changes?

Thanks, hopefully someone can help!
