9TH June Announcement

Post by devmanda1ia » Sun Jun 12, 2011 12:56 pm

9 June 2011 Government sets out proposals for breaking the link between temporary and permanent migration

Hi Senior members,

The announcement on 9th June sounds like it is directly affecting work permit holder who have stayed in the UK for 5 years.

Does this add any more criteria to new assessment on ILR for work permit holders? Does it mean it is a clear NO for those work permit holders who spent 5 years of their lives here in the UK contributing to the economy but now they can't be eligible to stay here permanantly?

I am on a work permit here for now almost 4.5 years and soon should be eligible for ILR based on current criteria. But reading this news makes me concerned.

Can you pls throw some light on this?

Thanks,
