Absences in SET(0) form

Post by yarons » Tue Feb 10, 2009 8:16 am

Hi

I need some assistance in writing this section.
I read in a few informal places (this forum included) that day of arrival or/and day of departure do not count.
Not sure what is the formal guidance from the HO about the following questions:

1.)Do I write the days as they appear in the passport or subtract one day from each absence (arrival or departure or both)?
2.) Do I provide the actual count in a separate column for each visit, including total or should I leave that for the case worker to work out?
3.) Do I need to specify the location?

Many thanks for your help

You definitely cannot change your arrival and departure date. However, from memory, isn't there a column for days of absence?

In the SET(O) form all you have to mention is Date left the UK, Date returned to the UK and Reason for absense.
I dont think you need to mention count of days you were out etc. But for your satisfaction you can just count the days you were out My understanding if you travel out on 01.01.2008 and returned on 04.01.2008, then your days out of the UK are 2 days.
In the reason column you can mention the place of visit. its upto you.

The general idea i get is, HO wants to know Date left the UK, Date returned to the UK and Reason for absense so that they can calculate the days out of the UK depending upon the type of visits business/vacations etc.
