Academic Degree & Profession difference

Post by ajilani » Sat Jul 03, 2004 9:39 am

Dear All :D,

I am from Karachi, Pakistan and want to ask some questions.

1. I have Master Degree in Economics and by profession I am a Network & System Engineer. I am also a Microsoft and Cisco certified professional and on this based in I am doing my current job. I have total 10 years experience including 6 years on senior level, that during last six years I am doing two different jobs at senior position.

Can HSMP team accept my experience/50 points regardless of my academic degree?

2. I studied total 16 years. 10 years - Matricultation, 2 years - Intermediate, 3 years - Bachelor of Science (Hons), 1 year - Master. I also have certifications (MCSE, CCNA, CSE).

Can I gain 25 points in educational backgound catagory?

Now looking for any helpful reply.

Regards,
Azher

regarding pt. 1 The senior level and the salary both are linked. To qualify for salary you ot to show a salary of 7000GBP PA. If it comes very near to it say 6000 even then no problem. If you show a pay slip of last 12 months, this won't be enough. They will ask for a tax certificate also.

In addition to raoms's advice you can check out the specific points for degrees earned in pakistani univs in some of jillsjack's threads.

For your microsft & cisco certifications, you may use it as additional support to prove your ability to get jobs in UK but may not ba able to claim any points.

Hi Raoms,

Ok! I accept that Master degree in Pakistan (16 years) is equivalent to British Bachelor degree. So I will claim 15 points :cry:.

Regarding experience linkage with past earning, I don't think that they are link with each other. You can see in HSMP form that separate points are alloted in these each areas. We don't need to show past earning if we claim senior/specialist level experience 8) .

I have talked to one of local HSMP consultant and he informed that he normally prepares cases on senior level experience without past earning and his all the cases got approval.

Here is reference from HSMP website :lol:

"How do I qualify as a highly skilled migrant?

There is a points-based immigration scheme. Points are scored in five main areas:

educational qualifications;
work experience;
past earnings;
your achievement in your chosen field; and
your husband's, wife's or unmarried partner's achievements."

Now I am looking for your response.

Azher

azher,
By law the seniority and earnings should not be linked but there were some postings before which told us that their is a link. I know that earning a 10000Rs P.M itself is a big amount and considered as a senior person salary. There are some M&C which give salaries of 30k / 50 k p.m or some business people earn that much. But who will tell home office they consider the M&C salary the best.
Anyway I never meant to hurt your hopes. You should surely apply for the visa. Inshaallah (god willing) you will get it.

See to it that you submit your tax certificates, along with all the originals or experience or appointment letters.

all the best.
