Advice needed

Can my girlfriends child (9yrs old - non visa national) attend school when they arrive as visitors to the uk for 5 months? Not understanding the rules but maybe its clear to others!

Why are they visiting for so long? Have they been to the UK before?

I think the child will be allowed to attend but I would be questioning whether this scenario appears to be more like settlement than a 'visit' to any ECO/IO's now and in future applications.

This is a bit of a mixed bag - some areas are ok about it, some not. Different types of schools have different approaches. In our area, state schools more lax, but then again if you do not have place at a school for Sept 2008 you will not get one now. The C of E school demands birth certs, passports, visa proof but then again it is massively oversubscribed.
Friend teaches in Oxfordshire. State schools even more lax but places even harder to come by because of EEA influx of children. C of E school next door is only taking members of the church children as the demand is so high. The church membership has rocketed recently!!
