Advice regarding spouse visa

Post by k00k » Mon Jun 07, 2010 1:24 pm

Good Morning,

My wife currently has a spouse visa which expires in January 2011. She would like to apply for British citizenship but I have heard conflicting information on how long she has to wait before she is eligible.

Do you have to apply for ILR *before* applying for citizenship?

What kind of information does she need to provide?

She is not currently employed (I'm supporting her) would that have a negative effect on her application?

Thanks

She will need to get ILR before Citizenship.

Here is the form she will need for ILR

Here are the guidance notes for it.

Read the posts about this type of application here

Once you have got your ILR, then come back and ask questions about British Citizenship.

What if you cannot afford the ~£800 for ILR?

Is there a way you can extend/renew a spouse visa?

To extend you still have to pay. So if you can't afford ILR, you can't afford flr(m) extension. I would use a credit card or something.
I tell it like it is.
