Advice required regarding PSW and Visa Extension

Post by Phenom4Ever » Wed Sep 21, 2011 9:02 pm

Hi folks

Need some advise about my visa status.

Studying for a PG degree in Scotland.

My visa expires on the 28th of Jan, 2012.

Due to a couple of resits which I had to pass (have cleared them now) before proceeding with my dissertation, the submission date for my dissertation is now the 18th of January, 2012.

The does not give me enough time to wait for my results and degree and apply for PSW. I've also received my diploma, but I know it does not help.

What would you suggest I do ?

1. Apply for extension (but I read this isn't possible if I've already submitted my dissertation and the visa expiry date falls after it)

2. Get an extension on my dissertation, which puts the date to after the 28th of Jan and then apply for an extension (don't really want to go this route, since my dissertation is almost done)

3. Though the submission date is in Jan, I will complete my dissertation by the end of October, 2011. Can this help in any way ?

4. Get some kind of letter from the university which helps me to apply for the PSW as soon as I submit my dissertation.

I have all the required funds so that won't be a problem.

I'd really appreciate any inputs or suggestions regarding this situation.

Thanks.

Just spoke to a mate of mine, and he received an extension on the grounds that after submission of dissertation, you are granted an additional four month leave to receive your degree etc.

Is this a feasible option for me ?
