Advice seriously needed - Unemployment and FLR(M)

Myself and my girlfriend are applying for the Unmarried Partners FLR(M) visa in September (my girlfriend is a US citizen, I'm British). Unfortunately she's just been let go from work as the company she was employed by was having some financial difficulties. This is obviously quite worrying when it comes to showing we are financially OK.

I earn just under £1,300 per month after tax, and our flat costs £500 to rent. I do have a bit of money saved up in that account too that we can use for the time being.

We have a joint account (which she doesn't use at the mo, it's just for show) and her own account. What will happen if she can't get a job before September and I'm still earning what I do? Does she need to have a job or is it more important that my wage can support both of us?

Any advice appreciated.

You income is 1300. You spend 500 on rent and probably your council tax would be around 100. So this leaves you with 700 pounds to spend on other things.

Without getting into all technicalities, on the face of it, it seems that you shouldnt have a problem getting FLR(M) as far as finances are concerned. Just make sure though that it shouldnt appear from your bank statements that whatver you earn is all spent by end of every month.

Thanks for that. We also have a couple of thousand in the account as reserves in case we need it, so the account never goes below the £2k mark anyway.

Fingers crossed she'll have something new by the time we apply anyway.
