After PSW to tier 4 advices

Post by TT2014 » Wed Apr 16, 2014 1:58 pm

Hello i am new here,
I came to UK in 2006 February with ACCA course ( March 2006- October 31).
After that I extend with ACCA stage 2 course for 1 year until October 2007.
I sit ACCA exam and fail so i change college without informing.
I study Diploma in business Administration during 2007.
Then i study Advanced diploma in business Administration (Jan 2008 - June 2009).
After that i study Post Graduate diploma in business Administration (June2009- December 2010).
Then i do top up MBA course (Jan 2011- Jan 2012)
Currently i am in PSW visa until 2014 july.
My question is can i do tier 4 student after PSW. After calculating capping, am i over 5 year limit? ACCA that i studied has not been complete yet. Does ACCA count as level 7 as well?
Which course do i need to study? will it be possible to study level 7 like CIMA course or MSc ?
If it is possible i will do that courses.
Pls give me some advices

What was the duration of your ACCA course?
What was the level of your Advanced Diploma course?

It seems to me you have spend more than 4 years for your level 6 and 7 courses. And you will not be able to extend your visa if you apply for MSc or CIMA course. One option for you is to go for PhD program with a University.

ACCA duration is 1 year and 6 months.
I think advanced diploma is level 5.

Does tier 4 count after 2009? Or does it count the whole duration of studies? Some of my college said that tier 4 capping count after 2009 courses.
Some student agent said that i can eligible to study 2 years with level 7.
But reading around this immigrationboard some got refuse.

Hi can you give a break down to how many visa's you have been issued. Depending on how long u was issued a visa for ACCA course it may count towards the limit but the courses before ur pg course will not count.

Thanks

First ACCA course they give me only 8 months visa which is 6 months course ( Feb 2006- Oct 2006).
After that i extend with ACCA course for one year (Oct 2006- Oct 2007).
Because of failing the exam, i change the college without informing HO. ( at that time, rules are not very strict like now).

The time limit on degree level study applies to any degree lev study on tier 4 or old style student visas so it isn't correct that time spent on degree level courses before 2009 doesn't count.

If the course you study results in a qualification at nqf level 6 or higher upon successful completion then any study on this course counts towards your limit even of you don't successfully complete the course. I am not sure what you mean by 'ACCA level 2' but as I understand it ACCA fundamental papers are supposed to be bachelors level (nqf 6) and professional papers are masters level (nqf 7) therefore usually time spent on acca courses counts as degree level study but without knowing exactly what you were given a visa to study for it is difficult to advise you. As such it is possible that all the time for which you were granted a student to study acca will count unless you provide evidence that for part of this you were studying a below degree level qualification instead.

looking at your progression its not very clear to me

you first did ACCA in Feb 2006 to Oct 2006 what papers did you do in this time ?

then you went onto extend your visa through ACCA from oct 2006 to 0ctober 2007 what papers did you extend for here ?

you then decided to do a diploma/advanced dip in 2006/2009 was the courses completed at this institute for both courses and was it 1 VISA issued ? from what i can tell the Advanced Diploma may count as Level 6 as this is what got you accepted onto a PG Dip right?

for sure you have used up 2 years and 6 months for both PGD and MBA but the other courses unless you have proof of what papers you did on ACCA aswel as confirmation of what the diploma's were at it be hard to work out your time spent.

Thanks

ACCA duration is 1 year and 6 months.
I think advanced diploma is level 5.
So you have spent 1 year 6 months for ACCA course which is going to be a level 6 course.
you have spent around 1 year 5 months for a level 5 course (are you sure it's a level 5 course, seems to me its a level 6 course as well),
you have spent another 1 year and 6 months for PGD course
and lastly 1 year for MBA course

Now to answer your question whether you can go for the Mphil course or not, it all depends on what level was your Advanced Diploma course? If it level 6 then you have already spent more than 5 years and you have to go for Phd program. If it was level 5 you have around 1 year left to complete Mphil program.

Hope it helps.
