after the working holiday...

Post by clyde114 » Wed Sep 19, 2007 2:28 pm

Hi Guys,

A bit of advice is needed please.

My working holiday visa is up, (I'm Aussie) I cannot apply for a Highly Skilled due to a lack of formal qualifications, although I have good experience in my field of work. I've not managed to get sponsored but I've heard there is a company that will sponsor individuals for a fee. Can anyone confirm this? And is this my only remaining option?

Thanks Clyde

I think we all are looking out for a firm which will do that, be it for using the services or for reporting it.

If any company says that they are in existence purely to offer sponsorship services, then that company is operating illegally.

Unfortunately if you do not have tertiary qualifications your options are severely limited. Obtaining a work permit without tertiary qualifications is only possible if you have at least 3 years full time experience of specialist skills aquired through doing the type of job for which the work permit is required.

On top of this you also have to convince a company to obtain the work permit to employ you.

Have you checked yet whether or not you qualify for an ancestry visa (through having at least one grandparent born in the UK)?
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.
