airline stand by ticket - any problems when arriving in US?

I am an airline staff and together with my wife we planning to make holidays in US next month. We both require tourists visa for US. I have old 10 years validity visa in my expired passport that I am planning to use this time again but my wife needs to apply for a US visa for the first time.

I am curious about the implications of both of us this time holding so called unconfirmed airline paper tickets for our trip.

Have anyone known about any implications that my wife may have when applying for a visa or when we arrive in US?

Can't comment on actually getting a U.S. visa but once you arrive in the U.S. with a visa (as distinct from the visa waiver program) there is no mandatory return ticket requirement: (but having one is still helpful)

I have a visa; do I also need a return ticket?

If you hold a visa of any classification, including a B-1/B-2 visa, you are not required to hold a return ticket; you may enter the United States on a one-way ticket. All travelers should carry with them for presentation to U.S. officials, if required, evidence of funds sufficient for their visit and, with the exception of H and L visa holders, evidence that they have a residence abroad to which they intend returning at the end of their stay. Examples of such evidence include: traveler's checks; return tickets; copy of latest bank statement; letter from parents saying they will support you; evidence of current employment; evidence of enrollment at an academic institution.


When is your wife going to apply for her U.S. visa? It may already be too late if the plan is to go next month (if you're living in the U.K.), as London is showing a 25 day waiting time for an interview:
