Alternatives for long form birth certificate

Hi there.

Has anybody has any information on how to overcome the problem of not having a long form birth certificate. I need to apply for Citizenship through Naturalisation soon and I really appreciate if anobody has overcome this problem by submitting an affidavit and if so the procedure involved in getting an affidavit done in Dublin.
