American married to European: Can I work in Europe?

Post by scott » Sun Dec 19, 2004 8:08 pm

I was wondering if someone can help me answer this question:

I am an American who was married to a German woman here in the US for over 10 years. I have just divorced and I am now considering moving to Europe alone and looking for work there. Do I have rights to live and work in Europe because of my 10-year marriage to a German? She got her US Green-Card through our marrage and she is now applying for her US citizenship but what is my equivalent to that in Europe? Is there such thing as a European Green-Card or equivalent for me? Do I need to have resided there with her to be granted any European citizen rights?

Thank you!
