Amount of Money Needed for EC Clearance? from the USA...

Post by nervousbytheday » Tue Oct 02, 2007 12:39 am

Does anyone know how much money the Entry Clearance officer will look for one to have in their savings account? What has been your particular experience?

I am coming from the USA.

THANK YOU!

This was my experience (scroll down in the linked thread to see what I submitted). I had £4200 in checking and £60000+ in stocks/bonds, but I think only the checking-account balance was vital to the application. Recent large deposits should be explained if anomalously large. I hope it helps, and good luck - and no need to get more nervous by the day, I shouldn't think; the bar is not terribly high. AG

Wow, thank you SO much for that link. I think I have a MUCH MUCH better idea of what items I should start preparing!

Hi NbtD

I received my Entry Clearance from Los Angeles last week. I showed $3500 in my checking account plus an accommodation letter (= free place to stay until I can find my own place), and my job offer (I start my job on 8 Oct, first payday is 26 Oct).

Good luck!
