my bank statement will complete its 3 months on 1-10-2011. and I shall apply for PSW on 3-10-2011. do I need to keep the amount in bank during the visa process?

No, but if you don't and then need to re-apply, you'll have a problem as the new statements (reflecting the new period) will not have the funds.
