Ancestral to Spouse visa

I have been in the Uk since July 2004 on the status of a partner on my same sex partner's (male)ancestral visa. However 2 years ago I met a girl I work with and we have fallen in love and have been having a relationship for 2 years. I wish to leave my partner and and marry this girl. She has been living here for 8 Years and is on a Portuguese passport. What are the implications of this- will I need to cancel the ancestral partner visa and apply for a spouse visa. Will my time here be counted towards ILR. What problems can I expect in this regard.
