UK and Brazil - Residing in Spain for 1 - 2 years

Hello

My partner and I are wanting to live in Spain for 1 - 2 years. I am a UK citizen, and my partner is from Brazil, currently in London on a study-visa.

We will be self employed musicians once there and have the funds to support ourselves for the first six months.

What do you recommend is the best course of action for my partner to emigrate with me? Should we get married in England, and have him apply for a Spanish visa as a EC Family Member? or what other visa options does he have to stay in Spain? We were considering enrolling him in a Spanish course so he could enter the country on a student visa, and then change his visa status once there.

Please help! We don't have much time. Were hoping to relocate end of December 08 at the latest.
