another very urgent question re the application form!!

Post by t_kaay » Thu Mar 17, 2005 8:34 pm

could someone plz advise me regarding the following:

I'm sponsoring my mother/father in law to visit from Pakistan.

I understand separate applications are required.

1. Will photocopies of evidence such as bank statements, wage slips, etc suffice for one application if the originals are with the other application?

2. Do the bank statements need to show all transactions or will the cover balance sheets, showing totals in and out and balance for each month do? I'm with Natwest and if I send in 6 months of everything it will be a lot of paper!!

3. One of the questions asks "how much money is available for your visit?".....how can you really work this out? What would be an accepted figure for a 4 month stay? Would £3000 each be ok or too much? I don't really have a limit but I guess I can't state "unlimited funds".

4. If I send in P60's for the last two years plus a letter from employer showing my employment status and confirmation of the wage, will I still need to submit actual wage slips for the last 6 months?

Thanks for your help

Aren't the applications going in together? In which case the two completed application forms and one set of original documents is needed. In other words, the one set of documents covers the two applications.

As regards bank statements, I would say don't submit the "cover sheets" but do submit the real bank statements.

Funds available? The applicant could write something such as "While in the UK my son-in-law, Mr ABC, will be maintaining us and we shall be living at his address, with him and our daughter, Mrs EDC. Financial information from him proves that he can easily afford to maintain us during our stay.", or something like that.

In other words, don't quote any particular figure.

Your question 4, I would answer, "yes", if only because too much supporting evidence is better than too little. In other words, give the ECO no excuse for refusing the applications.

Does that help?

Thanks for the reply John. Yes it does help. I thought that as the applications were being made separately (two application forms that is), that I would need two sets of identical evidence in case they were loked at by different officers?

As regards :-
they were looked at by different officers?
-: I would say that if the applications are submitted together, and why not(?), they will be considered together by the same ECO.
