Any hope for new Tier 1 General visas?

Hi all-

I have been thinking about relocating to the UK. I did my BA and MS there and moved back to the US where I've been living since 2004.

I was excited when I used the points calculator and learned that I qualify for the tier 1 general visa --- but then I learned about all of the changes. I certainly wouldn't qualify for the investor/entrepreneur visas.

Is the tier 1 general visa gone forever?

I'd love to relocate - but I just don't know that it's realistic to find a company to sponsor me.
