anybody- how long to get CoA(permission to marry) approval?

Post by turquoise » Wed Apr 11, 2007 3:26 pm

Just a quick question: we will very soon be applying for permission to marry (waiting for an original divorce certificate from South Africa which has been a real hassle to get hold of).
How long has it taken people on here to get that permission back to marry? We are just under a real time constraint to do this before my work permit expires. We had no idea O/H's divorce would take so long to go through which has put us under real pressure.
If we send the permission to marry application off at the end of April, any ideas how long it would take to get back? The website says between one to three months. I'm just concerned they might have had a rush of people trying to beat the 2nd April fee increase and might have more volume to process than normal... trying to keep my hair on but you know how it is!

Also, while we're at it, if this all works out- how long does it take on average to get the spouse visa when applying within the UK?

Thanks!

The website says between one to three months.
Even before reading those words of yours i was thinking .... a couple of months ... is what members of this board have reported in the past.

And as you say, the rush to beat the fee increase could add to that in the short-term.
