Anyone have any experience with an inadmissible partner?

Hello,

My fiancé (soon to be husband) is currently inadmissible to Canada for a prior dui committee in 2015.I a Canadian citizen currently in the uk, however we would like to eventually settle in Canada.

He is unable to apply for rehabilitation until next August and then I will sponsor him.

Has anyone gone through the process? Any tips or advice?
