Applicant for LTR and I just got fired

I was fired the week before christmas after working for company for two and a half years(told my unfair dismissal case will be in my favor no questions). I was waiting for my work permit to come as it had been sent to the wrong address (hopefully will come next week). Entemp said that I could just tell them when I get a new position and there would be no means test on the new job (not sure if they have to pay fee though). However I'm worried that if I don't get a job soon enough I might need to get the dole. Does anyone know if this will effect my LTR application (April 2007) from going through? What about citizenship? I can't believe that it would as I'm legally entitled to it after 7 years paying into PAYE!
I can't believe I've lived here almost 8 years and I still have to worry about this shite!

They have previously refused citizenship applications for people who were receiving benefits. It is not clear whether they do this if you have claimed benefits in the past or if you were in receipt of benefits when they made the enquiry- all I know for sure is that they do check whether you are receiving benefits when you apply for naturalisation.

what kind of social welfare benfits (excluding child allowance)? the department expect one to to be "self reliant" for about 3 years prior to making of application. ie not in receipt of benefits such as unemployment benefit. problem is i dont think they mention that in the application forms

how long have you held work pemits in the various employment places?so long as you had reckonable residency (eg work permits or a stamp4 ) for a continous period of 5 years (60 months) AT TIME of making the LTR appliation in april 2007 you should be grand. you prob need to get a new work permit for new employers. as far a citizenship application one would hope their is no time gap between getting the sack and new job.

have you made the citizenship application? i know its easier said than done but the dole would not be a good idea if you wish to make an application now and expect a successful result despite your history in the state

I was on a work permit for three years then one year on EU national spouse stamp. I left the country for one year and have been on work permit for over two years.

as far a citizenship application one would hope their is no time gap between getting the sack and new job.

One would hope so but reality makes sure that there will be some time lapse. I was unfairly dismissed and it's not my fault I don't have a job now
I'm looking at the moment but I know that it's not going to be easy not having residency or citizenship. Some companies don't even want to hear that you are holding a work permit and can take up new employment.

I noticed this on the site about EU treaty rights

Under the Directive, Member States have the power to expel persons from their territory. EU citizens or their family members may be expelled on grounds of public policy, public security or public health. However, before making such a decision the host Member State must assess a number of factors such as how long the individual concerned has resided on its territory, his/her age, state of health, family and economic situation, social and cultural integration into the host Member State and the extent of his/her links with the country of origin.

I think this would apply to a situation where a non-eu gets the dole or avails of the healthcare system. I've already done the latter and wonder if they are going to try and use that against me as well if I go too long without employment and need unemployment.
I think it would also apply if someone was to be charged with an offense.
