Hi, can someone give me advice on this section - Point 1.22 Knowledge of Language / Life in the UK
I am a South African with indefinate leave to remain in the UK and am looking to apply for my British Passport. I arrived in the UK in December 2001 and have been living here permanently since then. I orignally arrived on an EEA family member visa. I have done my Life in the UK test and have that certificate, but the section also requires the I have this AND:
Lists a number of alternatives:
Can someone advise what I need here in order to prove my knowledge of the Language?
I have a Bachelor's degree from South Africa and I also have "Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting" issued by CIMA in the UK in August 2008 (CIMA - Chartered Institute of Management Accounting).
Would either of these suffice under the requirements criteria, as CIMA is not listed under the awarding bodies. South Africa is also not listed as a majority English speaking country?
Would I need to do one of the "Recognised English Tests and Qualifications at a level equivalent to Level B1 CEFR or Above" to qualify this second requirement for this section?
My partner who is Italian is also applying for her British Citizenship, also orginally from South Africa, but on an EU passport, so would she also need to do a similar "Knowledge of English" qualifications as Italy is not listed as a Majority English speaking country. She has done a City and Guilds diploma in CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) so would that suffice to meet the requirements?
Some advise in terms of both of us on these points will be appreciated.
Thank you.
