Applied HSMP now accpeted to PHD Prog

Dear all, I have a dilemma...I have applied HSMP and I am hopeful. Now recently I have been accpeted into a PHD Program in UK.
I am not sure whether I should apply for a student visa and also whether I shall be able to study while under HSMP.
One more thing...I am SAP Consultant in HR/Payroll...anybody who has any idea what are the Job conditions in UK

The HSMP is for employment/ self employment in a designated profession which is incompatible with full time study as is likely to be required at the early stages of a PhD. If you wish to pursue the PhD then apply for a student visa. IMHO studying whilst on year 1 of the HSMP will see your renewal fail because you will not be able to demonstrate economic activity.
