Apply for extension again

Hi,

My Tier-1 General visa was expired back in 2-3 years ago, before it got expired I applied for extension and my visa was refused last year and now my appeal is being processed at the court. My lawyer just told me that I can apply for another extension as my previous visa Tier-1 G got extended when i applied at the court, so i am eligible to apply again for an extension - is it true please? I would really appreciate if someone gets back to me please. Thanks
