Post by ethan » Wed Aug 05, 2009 2:03 pm

dear all,

thanks for your great help in advance.

i am going to apply Naturalisation as a british citizen now. My wife and my son will apply with me together. however, i am not sure which forms do they need to fill in.

i think i need to fill in the form_an. however,
1) will my son fill in the form_bota
2) will my wife fill in form_an too?
3) what documents need?
4) how long does it take?

thanks alot!

You and your wife both need to complete a form AN, and a form MN1 needs to be completed in respect of your son.

Questions :-
  • Have both you and your wife passed the Life in the UK Citizenship test?
  • How old is your son?
  • How long have you, your wife, and your son been in the UK?
  • Do you all have ILR?

we have been here for 5 years (we are under JR2)
my son was away back to home around 1.5 years. but he was born in the UK.
all of us got the ILR.

as i tried to find the form for my son. but i can not find. i will try again. now we just need to pass Life in the UK test. this is i guess. and i also need to prepare some documents. any documents i need to prepare?

thanks alot!

ethan, as you say, the form to use for your son is the MN1. As he was born in the UK, and you now have ILR, there is an entitlement for him to be registered as British.

Good luck for you and your wife to pass the Life in the UK Citizenship test.

When the forms AN, and MN1, are submitted, what documentation? That is clear from the forms. I suspect you will think, surprisingly little, compared to visa applications.

I have few questions in the form.
1) Section 2.1 date and place of first arrival in the UK/

should i use the first date when i came into uk which is nine years ago? or it is the date which i am qualified for applying nutralization which is 5 years ago?

2)Section 5. refrees and identidy.
what is the professional standing? could the doctor be the Doctor of Philosophy? and has to be british? thanks alot!

3) after submition, if i am go out for business trip for a bit longer, will they consider those into 90 days?
