Applying child first passport from overseas

Hi ,

Applying my child first passport from overseas .I am British and my wife is non UK resident who lives abroad (Asia). We have a child born in 2024 (Asia) and I am planning to apply my child first British passport from overseas. May I know What documentation are required ?

Have you gone through the application form online https://www.passport.service.gov.uk/filter/overseas ? If you fill it in with your information it will tell you what to send (usually any existing passports for the child, full birth certificate with official translation in English unless it is in English already, and proof of entitlement to citizenship via the parents). Note that obtaining a first passport abroad for a child can take up to a year. It is usually quicker to apply for Right to Abode endorsement on the other passport and get the British passport in the UK.
