Applying for British Passport after Indefinate leave

I am looking for advice here after reading through quite alot of other cases. I think you guys are doing a brilient job and hope to get some good advice on my issue.
My friend came in UK in January 2008 on a spouse dependent visa. Her husband was on HSMP visa at that time. He applied for indefinate leave to remain with her in April 2008 and they both got the stay.
She is now seperated with her husband and living with her kid who got a british passport. My question is that when can she apply for her British Passport and what are the documents required for submission. Also, is there any restriction on her stay outside the UK before she gets her British passport?

She can apply for Naturalisation as long as she's in the UK exactly 5 years the day HO receives her application.
