Applying for COS issues..

Post by madona587 » Thu Jun 16, 2011 10:37 am

Hey guys,

We're trying to request a COS,

In the SMS I have a question..

In the following sections enter the details of the employment that this certificate covers.

Start date:

End date:

What exactly is this date ? can someone please clarify ? If i put start date today do i have to put the end date from 1 year ? or is this my employment start date & end date (End date ?)

e.g: 15-06-2011 - 15-06-2012

Please help ?

Also how long does it to takes to get a COS ? :)

Mate I found that if you're switching from PSW you have to put the start date as the next day of your PSW expiry date and end date as 3 years from that date.

e.g: If PSW expires on 14-12-2011

Your start date should be 15-12-2011
End date should be 15-12-2014

COS is instant ! :D

Hope this helps..

IMHO, you need to talk to your employer and say by which date they want you to employ on Tier 2. (doesn't necessarily have to be the end date of current visa). And 3 years is the max. period so if you got an open-ended contract then put end date as 3 years and 1 month onward from the start date!

Technically OP will be on psw visa until the last date of current visa and then will get transferred to tier 2 from the next day which is just 1 way of doing things out of several options available.

Do note that issue of new leave supersedes any previous (valid) leave(s).

So, if a start date of employment and issue date of new Tier 2 leave is earlier than the expiry date of any current leave, then the current leave will become invalid at 00:00 hours of the issue date of the new Tier 2 leave.

I'm a bit confused :?

I got PSW till 08-11-2011

As for the instructions from HO I put my Start date as 09-11-2011 and end date 09-11-2014

My COS says Issue date : 16-06-2011, Expiry on 22-11-2011

So I have till 22-11-2011 to apply for Tier2 right ?

I know man.. But as far as I'm concerned I'm going to make the application asap. I put my start date as they told me to so its not my fault. I guess as long as i apply before my psw runs out i have a good chance.

So annoying that they have freaking million things in the checklist..
