I'm applying for an ILR from Tier 2, what's the best time for the dependant to apply for extension?

I filed my SET(O) and am currently waiting for a biometrics appointment. At the same time, my partner needs to apply for extension of their Tier 2 Dependant visa, which should be uneventful as far as I can understand. However, unfortunately timing is really tight, so we'd like to apply as soon as possible. When would be the best time for them to apply?
  • now, when I submitted SET(O), paid the fee, and am waiting for biometrics appointment? I have my UAN so I think technically they should be able to submit it
  • after my biometrics appointment, when a case worker might be looking through my application?
  • when I get my decision back (hopefully that'll be fast as I paid for super priority)?
I searched on the forum but didn't find an answer, hopefully it's not a repeat question. Thanks in advance!

They can apply now. The decision will be made after your application is decided. It will be a 3y extension.

Tier 2 route does not exist. She should apply under Skilled worker dependant visa
