Applying for ILR if the length of stay on Skilled Worker Visa is slightly less than 5 years

Post by nikubhan » Wed Feb 12, 2025 8:42 pm

Hi there,

My situation is as below:

Visa Type: Skilled worker visa
Issued in - May 2022
Valid Till - Apr 2025
UK Entry - Jun 2022
Length 0f visa - 17 days less than 3 years

1. Will there be an issue while applying for an ILR in 2027 due to this gap of 17 days?

2. When do I apply for a Renewal of skilled worker visa? Do I do it just a couple of days before the visa validity date so that the decision date is as late as possible & the visa validity is long as possible so as not to increase the gap more than 17 days?

3. Is there any role COS validity plays in the visa validity date? Do I need to ensure that COS is valid from Apr 2025 to Apr 2027? Will there be a problem if it is from Mar 2025 to Mar 2027?

4. Slightly unrelated, but my elder daughter was born in the UK in 2011 & we went back to India in 2012. Is there a way I can apply for her citizenship directly while I am applying for my ILR? Or can that only be done after my ILR is approved?
