Applying for Spouse visa...HELP.

Post by worldcup » Sun Jun 15, 2014 1:27 pm

Hi all members. I hope some of you will be able to help and advise me. I'm British and want to marry my partner in India. I have a few questions that i am unsure about.

1) is it better to get married in India and then comeback to the UK and apply here or is it better to apply in India?
2) I earn over £18600 and have been employed for 6 years, but am confused over how many bank statements and wage slips i need to show. sometimes i get told 12 months bank statements and 12months wage slips other times 6 months bankstatements and 6 months wageslips. Someone told me 12 months statements because i have to show £18600 for a year period, but i have also been told if i'm earning more than £18600 than 6months of statements is fine. Could someone please clarify this for me?
3) How long does it take to get a decision, again i have heard it could take up to 3months?

If someone could list the complete set of documents needed that would be greatly appreciated as well, and also any other advice or things i needed to be aware of. Thank you all in advance.

1. For spouse visa, you cannot apply from here, it must be applied from the country of origin/residence of your spouse, so your spouse will be applying from India.

2. 6 months wage slips (and 6 month bank statements showing the wage coming in) is sufficient (Info in link below)

3. Decision usually takes 3 months.

The form you will be using is VAF4A and more info can be found here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... form-vaf4a

This also contains information of all the documents you need in order to apply.

In addition to all this, your spouse will also need to satisfy the English Language requirements to the level of A1 of the CEFR. More details can be found on the link above.

Hi all members,

Regarding my above situation. There are still a few things that i am unsure about and i have a few questions, hopefully some of you guys can help me out with. After i marry my partner in India and we apply online for our visa; when do we need to go to the british high commission? Is this to submit the documents? for biometrics? etc Do we have to make an appointment or are we given a date in which to attend?

I'm not quite sure how this part of the process works after the application has been made online. Also, my partner is from Chandigarh, so which is the closest high commission that deals with spouse visas'? Delhi?

I hope you guys are able to shed some light on what to do and what happens after an application is made online.

I thank you all in advance.
