Approval letter missing middlename

Post by Tsqtr » Thu Apr 24, 2025 11:36 am

I received my approval letter to pay 950 with
Correct FIRST NAME and SURNAME

but doesn't include Middlename
I.e FIRST NAME , MIDDLENAME and SURNAME ?

Should I be worried? In all other documents include gnib, drivers license, home country passport it's first name, middle name and surname .
I often see only first name and last surname used in here but just worried as it's an offical doc?
Am I overthinking this?

Anyone been in this situation?

As far as I understand, middle name should be included in the approval letter and certificate, as the name in the cert is the only acceptable name when applying for an Irish passport. I think it may be a human error, especially if you use the same name in your home passport / IRP.

Maybe they copied the name from a utility bill where you middle name was not present?

You can pay the 950 euro but I would suggest you raise a request in the portal to ask them to confirm.

When paying the fee, do I include the missing middlename?

The form for payment also asks you to enter your name, address etc

You are in an uncharted territory unfortunately. I don’t think there is a known ‘correct’ way. If I were you I would put the middle name in it and follow it up with a portal request plus a registered letter.
