Approved spouse visa! but scared due to previous refusal

Post by peacepuffin » Sat Feb 26, 2011 6:24 pm

I received approval for my spouse visa on 2/22 and I have purchased my ticket to leave on 2/28. Back in July I was refused while entering under the visa waiver program and was sent to a detention center which has left me quite scared about my trip because I have read that they could still refuse me despite the visa. If anyone has any recommendations or words of encouragement (or caution) I would certainly appreciate it. I would like to know what to expect from them because of my previous refusal and the likelihood of being detained.

Thank you

Don't worry about it unless you were refused for some sort of deception. Just be honest when they ask you questions. Everything will be fine and you won't get bounced again if you obtained your visa honestly.

As you've been granted a spouse visa, there's no reason to expect a problem from UK immigration on entry. As with all spouse 1st arrivals however, it would be advisable for your spouse to be waiting at the airport for you.

There was no dishonesty when I tried to enter the first, just lack of preparation and ignorance. Everything was honest in the visa as well. I am just worried about being detained again is all and if I am what to expect i.e. questions I will be asked... I just don't want to be caught off guard again.

You won't be detained then. Simple. Stop worrying. The questions are straight forward things you would easily know the answer to.
