Hello Community,
I'm just curious - are the citizenship application processed in the order they are received?
Reading through the forum, I observed that all applications are acknowledged with the received date and filed. But I fail to read any pattern for these applications getting picked up and a formal acknowledgement letter (or e-vetting process) done in the order they were filed. I know each application is different and has different timelines and checks. Did anyone notice any pattern emerging from the data the Community has shared here?
I wonder if they have different queues for different application types?
CMU1 and CMU2 had different processing times, that's not clear. Child and minor applicatons have separate queue. But, they are processed with the day they are received. Right now for 2021 applications it takes around 1 year and 5 month (based on previous confirmations), so the majority of this time is waiting. So for 1 year, your application sits idle on someone's desk or drawer (Someone from 2021 applicants filed FOI request after 1 year of application and there was no progress at all). So when they start processing your application it depends on your file, if they request missing documents, then it will extend your application (because your file will sit even more for idle).
I believe they are doing in batches, so after sending acknowledgment letters to every applicant in 2021 (I got mine as November 2021 applicant) now the team is probably working on last stages of the applications between Janury - May 2021. After these are done, I believe they will move to processing June 2021 - December 2021 applicants.
You should file a FOI request after 1 year to see if there is any progress, and apart from that only sign of any progress is if you get eVetting letter or if they send you a letter asking for more documents. Otherwise there is no way to track or guess your application progress.
