Are Tier 4 students allowed to register a non-trading company?

The reason I'm asking is because nowadays, many UK based FCA regulated companies are only willing to provide sponsorship under the name of a registered company (not individuals).

Since students are not allowed to do business or trade, opening a non-trading company means that you are just reserving name. However, if you are switching from Tier 4 or Tier 2 into Tier 1 entrepreneur, it is very hard to get funding under your name.

This query is for £50,000 switch inside the UK.

Students can't be employed beyond the permitted limits and can't be self employed. There is nothing to prevent a student being the director of a company and taking dividends.
