Asylum seeker spouse of EEA National. Help !

Hi everyone,

I am a German national living in the UK for the past 11 years, who studied here and currently working. I met my wife here and we've been married for a bit more than 1 year now. We had an Islamic marriage done with our local imam and have a Nikkah certificate. We went to the local council to get the civil marriage done, however they refused and requested us to get a certified copy of my wifes passport from the home office. However, we've been trying to get ahold of one with no luck, as we cannot find the right person to talk to as no one seems to know how to request one, even calling the home office themselves.

Meanwhile we applied for a visa for my wife with the nikkah certificate and other proofs such as photos, chats etc and got a letter last week that is has been rejected as the nikkah was not performed in a registered building.

We now have less than 14 days to appeal this decision.

Since then wife has gotten pregnant with our baby and is 5 months pregnant.

Does anyone have any advise on the next step I should take, or who I should contact to request a certified copy of my wifes passport so we get the civil marriage done with the local council. Or any other advice would be much appreciated.
