AU residency but can i live/work in NZ to get NZ citizenship

I've just got my Australia residency for 5 years, on sub class 176.
I am tihnking of actually living in NZ which i know my visa allows as an Australian resident.
But does this mean when i start work in NZ i am then eligible to apply for NZ citizenship after 'x' number of years (have yet to read up on this) as long as i can prove ive been living there etc..?

You have to be Australian citizen to be eligible to go an work in Nz
