australian tourist visa

Post by hmm » Mon Jan 09, 2012 4:25 pm

My mother in law has been living in the UK for the last 6 months. She has ILE (equivalent to ILR). She would like to apply for Australian tourist visa to see her relatives. What documents she'll need to submit with her application? we aree going to submit the application form in the AUstralian embassy as she is not qualified to apply online. She is South asian national.

Does anybody know how long do they take to issue the visa?
and in general how easy to get the Australian tourist visa? Are they strict as UK?

Australia is "as good as it gets" - and also notes that getting through the immigration system is "difficult but not impossible". Australian people are famous for their friendly and easygoing outlook on life. But anyone planning to come to Australia should understand that the Australian government is serious about "protecting the security of our borders and the integrity of our immigration system".

To remain longer in Australia than your original visa allows, you are required to obtain another visa. If you want to remain in Australia for tourism or recreational purposes or to visit family or friends, you may apply for a Tourist visa.
This visa is for people to visit Australia for a holiday, sightseeing, social or recreational reasons, to visit relatives, friends or for other short-term non-work purposes.
