Baby born abroad to a British parent

Post by zsat69 » Wed May 17, 2023 8:16 pm

Hi all,

I've seen few similar posts and bit confused.

I've couple of questions, please let me know

1) Baby born abroad to a British father (citizen by naturalisation) and Sri Lankan mother on a spouse visa - What is the process for a 6 month old baby to enter UK ?

2) For spouse visa there is no restriction on how many months they can stay abroad (it won't be an issue when they apply for ILR) is my understanding correct ?

Thanks

If the child was born on or after the date of the father's citizenship ceremony and naturalisation certificate, they can apply directly for a British passport.

Be aware that first British passport applications for children born in the Indian Subcontinent can take six months to a year.

Not sure if the child is eligible for a Sri Lankan passport. If they are, after getting a Sri Lankan passport, they can apply for a CoE-RoA, but that is much more expensive.
