Baby name on passport

we are having a baby both our surname are pretty long. so we would prefer to give different surname on baby's british passport. for eg: our names .xxx yyy and we want give our baby name ddd zzz .is it something possible? we know that on birth certificate , they require both our names, but on the passport and school admission eventually , we prefer to give short name. please experts advise. thanks in advance
