Baby Passport - India

Dear Friends

I have a query regarding the indian passport for a new born

1. I am a British Passport Holder. I have not yet applied for my OCI.
2. My wife is on Indian Passport and ILR
3. Baby would be born in India

My understanding is
(a) We need to register the Birth , with the supporting documents from the Hospital, Locally.
(b) We then take the Birth Certificate , Marriage Certificate and be physically present to apply for child's passport?

Question is
(1a) Is it compulsary to have my name on my wife's passport?
OR
(1b) Is it sufficient to have our marriage certificate and co-habitating proof to apply for child's passport?

We are in need of knowing the list of documents required for a new-born passport in India.

Father and Mother - Both are residents of UK
Mother and Baby - Both present in India
Father - British ; Mother - Indian with ILR

We have decided to opt for the Indian Passport + RoA route for the baby.

Please can you share the list of documents required to be submitted for baby's first passport?

Please can you help with the list of documents required for a newborn's indian passport ( although the child is british by birth to a mother, who is on ILR & father, who is british).

My wife's passport does not have my name - is it mandatory or would it be sufficient to have a marriage certificate and physical presence at the time of baby passport application , in india?

You should be good to apply with the marriage certificate for Indian passport. Contact the VFS center in India and they are responsive.

VFS has no role play for an Indian passport application (to be) submitted in India.

1a. No. Neither of you require the other's name in your own passport. No such requirement / dictat.
1b. Reading the Instructions Booklet will help.

dear friends

we have a situation while we are preparing for the indian passport to our baby
- father, myself, british citizen
- mother, my wife, indian citizen with ilr
- baby, born in india

My wife's passport has address details of "mumbai" (say) while the passport application would happen in "bengaluru" (place of birth, for baby)

q1) is it mandatory for my wife's indian passport to have "bengaluru" address on her passport?
q2) is it not possible for normal residents to apply under tatkal scheme in india?
