bank statement looks like a copy

Post by JESSIES » Sun Sep 07, 2008 10:25 pm

Hi

I currently live in London and have called ING Australia twice to send me my statements for the maintenance fund requirements.
They sent me an interim statement AND a coloured copy of the official statement to cover the 3 month period. Interim statement only covers one month.
However, the coloured bank statement is on the 'softer' A4 office paper as opposed to the thicker paper banks use when they send out letter. I have called the bank twice to ask them to send it to me on the thick paper in which the interim statement was printed on bec i think it looks photocopied but on both occasions they didnt' and stated that they could not produce a letter for me as the coloured bank statement is considered as a legal document.

Can some clarify if you think it is ok or not as I am going to apply tomorrow or the day after, thanks

I also forgot to add that I am on a work permit and have entry clearance for 5 years so maybe the maintenance fund statements won't be such an issue???

Irrespective of your current immigration status, you must fulfil the prescribed conditions for your Tier 1 application to be successful. So there's no escaping the maintenance funds requirement just because you are employed in UK on basis of a "5yr" WP.

WP is of use to you to the extent that if Tier 1 application is refused, staying back will not be an issue because of the (still) vaild 5 yr WP EC.

thanks for your response but do you think the coloured statements would be an issue?

If thats the way my bank would issue the statement, I will not worry as long as I have required money in it and it is verifiable.

Paper quality of the bank statement is of no consequence. What is important is whether the statement meets the other requirements such as - printed on letter headed paper / bank's official stationary, contains personal account details as outlined in the Tier 1 policy guidance etc.

If such details are in order, then I don't think you should have a problem.

Addition:

If its on bank's official stationary and not on letter headed paper, then stamp and signature are must.

what is the difference between bank office stationary and letter head paper?
The interim statement and bank statement have different letter head designs on them.

I am not sure if banks can stamp and sign documents as I know I could not get one from Barclays
