bank statement on plain paper bearing official bank stamp?

Post by Radtw78 » Sat Sep 26, 2009 7:36 pm

I know a lot of people have successfully got approved with bank statement printed on plain paper bearing bank official stamp.

However, if you read guidance carefully, this is only allowed for on-line accounts.

Guidance page 25:

For the purposes of this guidance an online
bank account is one that operates solely
over the internet and sends their bank
statements to their customers electronically
(for example over the internet or via email).

So if strictly following this guidance, most current accounts don't count as "online account", and bank statement printed on plain paper bearing bank stamps should not be accepted.

Even though there has been a lot of cases which applicants got away with stamped print-outs.

I wonder if anybody has been REJECTED because 'the account is not solely online'.

My bank account is Lloyds TSB Classic current account. It does issue official paper statements, with unknown intervals. I am not sure if I can get official paper bank statements before application date so I went to a branch and tried to order the most recent bank statement.
Branch advisors told me it cannot be ordered because it has NOT reached its issue date, but they do have a lot of other customers who came for the same visa reason and what they have done is printing on plain paper and get it stamped.

I still feel a little unsafe, since it's obviously against the written rules. Even though a lot of people get approved, but what if my caseworker is a mean person and enforce this rule strictly?
