Bank statements proof: does the bank a/c have to be in India

Post by semantix » Tue May 26, 2009 10:02 am

A friend plans to submit a Tier1 General application from India. He has scored well on the online points assessment. However with regards to the bank a/c statement that needs to be submitted as proof of available funds, needs to know if its permissible to show statements from an active a/c that he holds abroad - this a/c was opened when he was living in that country, and continues to be active.

For EARNING's Proof or points to be earned, he needs to show 2 different sources to qualify the ideal being the Company Pay Slips and Bank Statements showing the EXACT amount credited.. if he can do that.. than he shd be eligible..
BUT need more info on the currency... as he needs to take care how the exchange rate can be handled unless he gets a letter from the company stating the amoutn received... as a third proof..

Bank Balance proof - not earnings proof

Post by semantix » Tue May 26, 2009 11:24 am

Hi, Thanks for the reply. But this is not regarding earnings proof, but the proof of having adequate funds in savings (purpotedly to be able to manage self and dependents until one finds a job). One needs to submit bank a/c statements as proof and the required amount should have been present in the bank for atleast 3 months prior to the application.

For maintenance funds, you can use any account which satisfy the criteria and funds being available to you at any moment in time.

Earnings proof can not be other country account but maintainance funds can be. make sure you included reasons for holding account in that country.
