UK-based contract ... working 2-3 days a week in Dublin

I am an Australian passport holder in the UK on the HSMP visa.

I am looking to pick up a UK-based contract in London. However, there will be travel to the client-site in Dublin (Republic of Ireland) maybe 2-3 days a week.

Questions:
1. Can I perform work in the Republic of Ireland with my current arrangement since I am still a UK-based employee?
2. If not, what are my options? Do I need a work visa of some sort for the RoI?
