Basic information on UK naturalisation required

Can someone please tell me the advantages (if any) of someone coming from outside the EU going the route to UK citizenship through naturalization? Specifically, if they are married to a UK citizen (myself) and they reside in the UK with him, can they get UK citizenship in 3 years instead of the 5 years residency route?

This aside, what are the advantages of going for UK naturalization as opposed to the 5 years residence route to UK citizenship than we hear much more about? And what are the drawbacks? Why would people bother?

It's five years via marriage route, not three.

It's all about settled status & freedom from immigration time restrictions.

For non EEA it takes 5 years (minimum) to ILR; for EEA its 5 years to acquire PR.

Spouse of BC only needs to demonstrate 3 years residence but (due to Regulation changes) its academic as gaining settled status now takes 5 years anyway (or longer for some paths).

There is no "5 year residence route to citizenship". Adults wishing to become British citizens need to naturalise.

As said you need to have PR/ILR now, which normally takes a minimum of 5 years. The only bonus is that if you are married a British citizen, you can apply for naturalisation immediately after gaining PR/LR; if you are not married to a British citizen you must wait for 12 months before applying.

So in reality, there is no practical gain to be had by going for UK naturalization over the 5 years route to ILR? Or in terms of if she wants UK citizenship, it's still a minimum wait of this 5 years. In the situation I am in, she is married to me and in the case where she comes to live here in the UK with me, so there are no benefits she gain from trying for naturalization over the residency route to ILR or to citizenship?

Someone from outside EU can only use marriage route (or skills or 10 year route) so the question is redundant.
